Hyperic is happy to announce the latest version of the open source IT management platform, Hyperic HQ 2.7.5 (release notes). Note that existing customers should consult with support before contemplating an upgrade. For almost all customers, we recommend sticking with HQ 2.6.x, as bug fixes are maintained in both the 2.6 and 2.7 series.

This release fixes a bug introduced in 2.7.4 that would cause duplicate services to be discovered. It’s recommended that all users upgrade the HQ server component to pick up this fix.

For HQ Enterprise Subscription users, 2.7.5 includes better handling of response time data. In prior versions, large amounts of response time data could result in errors when the data is removed. In 2.7.5 the queries have been optimized and reduced to delete data in smaller windows. Also, both response time and event log purge interval settings were not accurate. If you are upgrading from an existing installation, these settings have now been defaulted back to 31 days.

The 2.7.5 release also introduces additional plugin support for many applications, including Apache mod_status, Apache httpd 2.2, Mule 1.3, WebLogic 9.2, WebSphere 6.1, DB2 9.x, PostgreSQL indices, ActiveMQ, and memcached.

For a full list of bug fixes, see the change log.
